Assignment: Hello Blog

Create a blog account and post your home page to the Assembly language class blog or TASD class blog, depending on which class you are in.
Due February 4 midnight before class

Background

WordPress, the engine CRATEL uses for blogging, is a multiuser/multiblog system. That means one user can have multiple blogs and one blog can have multiple users.
For this course, you will have the ability to post on 2 blogs, one blog is your own personal blog and you will be the only user. The other is the class main blog (Assembly language or TASD) and all the members of the class will be users on this blog.
You are not required to use your own blog for this class, only the class blog. However, since it is easy and free, you might as well create it. I suggest you use your personal blog as a "sketchbook" where you can take notes about your work for the class.
You are the supreme being (administrator) of your personal blog. This means that you can activate blog plugins (for spam prevention or to play audio files, for example), add users, etc.
The course instructors are the supreme beings of the Assembly Language and TASD course blogs. This means that one of them has to add you as a user before you can complete the assignment. They can do this only after you have created a user account on the CRATEL blogs.

On completing this assignment you will have:
1. created a username in the CRATEL blog system
2. created your personal blog on the CRATEL server
3. have an instructor associate your username with the class main blog (Assembly language or TASD)
4. posted an "about you" on the class blog in the "class members" category.

OK then. Let's get started!

Sign up using this page, http://cratel.wichita.edu/blogs/wp-signup.php.
Choose FirstnameLastname (Follow exactly the caps with no spaces --- called CamelCase) as your account name
When given the option, create your own blog
you must use your wichita.edu email address to sign up. If this is not possible, email John at: <john.harrison AT SPAMFREE wichita DOT edu> to create your account and blog
Once you have signed up, confirm your account through the email you provided.
Your blog homepage will be cratel.wichita.edu/blogs/ "your user name" /

To change your password
- select "Users" from the menu bar on top.
- Select "Your Profile" from the sub-menu under "Users"
- Enter and confirm a new password.
Turn on the Visual Editor:
- Select "My Profile" in the upper right hand corner
- Click the check box under "Personal Options" which says "Use the Visual Editor When Writing"

post something--anything on your blog that lets the instructors know which course you are in (Assembly or TASD)
The instructors will check the new blogs daily and, when one of them sees that you are part of the course, will add you to the main course blog and email you to confirm that this is done.

visit the course blog (Assembly language or TASD), log in, and go to "site admin"
Write a post that will be your personal page. The post should contain:
- Your Name as the blog title
- appropriately-sized picture of yourself. (resize2mail will easily resize your pics online)
- short description of who you are
- your email (can be obfuscated)
post to the "class members" category only
